Bears Ears National Monument was established by President Obama in 2016 at the urging of a coalition of Native Tribes who have historic connections to this territory. Ancestors of the Navajo, Ute, Hopi, Zuni, Pueblo and more have ancestral connections to this beautiful land. The iconic Bears Ears mesas identify the area - but it will take a lifetime of camping and hiking to scratch the surface of this vast and historic landscape.
