In Massachusetts the Connecticut River enters the state in the beautiful French King Gorge, makes a bend to the reservoir at Turners Falls and then heads south through the historic Pioneer Valley and Deerfield. Past Mount Tom and Mount Holyoke. It becomes an industrial river feeding Holyoke's many mills and the last power dam on the river. Then it moves on through Springfield and Longmeadow. In Springfield, the Connecticut River passes the new Basketball Hall of Fame, part of the city's resurgence along the waterfront.
