Petroglyphs along the Fremont River show the unique trapezoidal body shape that came to be known as the Fremont culture. Of course, Fremont was named after John Charles Fremont, and American explorer of the west who arrived on the scene much later.
The Fremont 'style' is found over most of central and north Utah and is distinct from the Ancestral Pueblo styles in southeastern Utah, Colorado and into New Mexico. There is so much history in these rocks.
